The China Digital Scrapbooks forum is celebrating its 2nd birthday. There are challenges and prizes and chats, oh my! Today's challenge was to photograph some bits of everyday life. We didn't have to scrap them but I chose to put them all together in one simple page.

I forgot to take my camera to work so the first 3 photos were taken with my camera phone. I was surprised at the decent quality.

Mardi Gras

We had King Cake in honor of Mardi Gras at our noon conference today.  Then I got an e-mail from the Boston Globe with today's Big Picture entry on Carnival.  Call me crazy but oh how I long to wear one of these costumes:

Having fun with one of my prizes from the Amazing DigiScrap Race. Also doing a little personal touch up with Photoshop. I didn't have a chance to put on makeup before the wedding last Saturday so I used a little PSE magic to give myself some lipstick and hide my zits.

Life continues on here at the ranch. The kids are enjoying Kindermusik and think Ms. Heather walks on air. Tyler started speech therapy last week. I can't wait to hear what he has to say. Interview season is over at work. Next month we find out who matched with our program. Nadine, Johns, Marvin, and Marilyn died. Amy and Brian got married. Christmas, New Years, Chinese New Years, and Valentine's day all happened. There you go - now you are up to date on life with the Wests.

The kids are at NaiNai & PoPo's with cousin D so I took the opportunity to sleep in.  It was lovely!  Thanks family.  Got up and made Alex play W11 bowling with me.  Then I had to check out all the other W-sports games.  Once I was good and worn out, I checked my fitness age (53-yikes).  My arms are now pretty achy.  I can even feel some burn in my core.  Amazing game! 

Ok enough fartin around.  Time to find a home for all the new Christmas gifts and do a mega purge on all the old dried out markers so the new sets from Santa can invade the house.

Thank you Alex's folks for the groovy new W**.  We thought we were going to be up late to greet Santa (he just flew over Lawrence according to Norad).  Now it looks like we'll be up into the wee hours figuring out the new W**.

We're doing it again!

My pal, Nanc, and I have decided to participate in the Amazing Digital Scrapbooking Race again.  Season 4 starts in January.  We've both been suffering from the scrapping blahs so we're hoping for some fun inspiration from the race.  Thankfully, it is not a judged contest.  We get prizes for completing the challenges and as long as we meet the weekly deadlines we can continue on in the race.  I'm beginning to get a little excited.

The wee ones decided (read: Annali told Tyler what to do) to put on hoodie vests this morning. Once again poor Tyler is the fashion victim of having a big sister and ended up in a pink vest.

We are laying low this morning because everyone is battling colds. We thought we'd spare church folks the joy of our hacking and snotting. We told the kids we would go to the candlelight service this evening and they were kind of excited about going to church in the dark. However, we just heard the service has been canceled because of the extremely cold weather. Bummer. I love candlelight services, especially at Christmas time. I guess we'll just have to light our own candles tonight in honor of Jesus' birth.

To potty train or not

Tyler seems somewhat ready but I'm leery of starting down this path.  For one thing, I'm worried about his speech delay.  How is he supposed to let us know he needs to go if he can't speak?  Of course, the way he tells us know is to pull his pants down no matter where he is.  He's figured out how to pull his diapers off and pull his pants back up.  Unfortunately, sometimes we don't even know when he going commando until the puddle reveals all.  Like Annali, he likes to sit on the potty but doesn't produce much at this point.  Really, though, the major decider is whether or not my mom wants to go all out with the training effort since she is with him the majority of his waking hours.  What do you think, ma?

Today's household drama brought to you by G**-Be-G*ne

Walked in the door after work and immediately heard my daughter wailing from her room.  My dad comes down the hall and says "we've got a problem."  Turns out little girl had found a bottle of Goo-be-G*ne and had decided to squirt it all over her brother.  This being the 3rd time Tyler has gotten some sort of chemical in his eyes, we're old hats at the treatment.  Alex had rinsed his eyes out and was giving him some cuddles.  All the while, Annali is screaming because she has been banished to her room.  I went in to talk to her and she fell silent.  I sat on her bed and told her to come tell me what had happened.  Oh my, I don't have words for the expression on her face.  She very slowly inched her way over to me and then ran the last step.  I asked her what happened and she pulled her baby talk routine (imitating Tyler).  She just kind of grunted and pointed.  Her punishment was to apologize to Tyler and go to bed early, both of which set off additional screaming fits.  It has been a very rough night.  I think she has finally fallen asleep now.  Phew.  I'm beat.  This parenting business is not for sissies.
